Specialty Areas
I am a Trauma and PTSD Specialist. I have helped clients who experience trauma from childhood experiences, sexual assaults, war, racial and vicarious trauma. I also work with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Family and/or Romantic Relationships, Friendships, Adjustment to Change, Culture, Identity, Life Transitions, Assertiveness, Confidence, Imposter Syndrome, Coping and Stress Management.
Therapy Style
My therapy style is interactive. I am relationship focused and will use humor (as appropriate) to facilitate relaxation and comfort in the therapy space. I will also support you in the moment to understand and attend to your visceral reactions in therapy.
Experience and Clinical Trainings
I have been working in private practice for over 7 years. I have worked extensively with higher education students, international students and people with acute mental health disorders. I also provide psychotherapy services to working professionals as part of Lyra Health's Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Historically, I worked at Main Line Health's Mirmont Treatment Center in Philadelphia as a Behavioral Health Therapist where I led groups, provided individual therapy and family therapy to adolescent and adult individuals with acute mental health disorders admitted into their Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospital Program (PHP). My groups were skills based (DBT, Coping, CBT) as well as process oriented (trauma focused). I also led the substance abuse and addiction groups.
I completed my practicum with higher education students at UPenn Student Affairs and with adolescents in an emotional support program at Freire Charter School in Philadelphia.

About Saad
What Brought Me To This Profession
I went to college to study Marketing but graduating during the recession of 2008 led me onto a different path. Eventually, I built my career in the financial industry before taking a leap of faith to make a career shift and become psychotherapist in 2017.
I used to work at Vanguard Flagship Services and have also worked in retail banking. In my role as a manager I found myself attending to humanistic parts of the people I managed. My style benefitted employee wellbeing and team outcomes but also helped me discover my interest in human behavior. My wife was in graduate school at that time studying counseling, so we began to have some interesting conversations. Where I came from, it was uncommon for men to enter into this field so arriving here was sure a process, but I never looked back.
I immigrated from Pakistan in 2012. Therefore, understand firsthand what adjustments and challenges accompany such transitions. During college, I was an international student in London and understand firsthand the supports a student needs at this stage when living away from home in a foreign country.

Outside of Therapy
I enjoy a good kettlebell workout, light cooking, hosting and spending time with friends and family. I have a toddler who keeps me occupied outside of work. I have recently started playing soccer which I enjoy. I also love watching documentaries, reading books and I am an avid learner in the areas of history and war. These days I am experimenting with woodwork inspired by Japanese craftsmanship. Wish me luck!
