About Sahar
Sahar is a bilingual psychotherapist who graduated with a masters in counseling from UPenn. She has been practicing as a therapist for over 8 years and has been working in the mental health field since 2008. Her approach to therapy is integrative, holistic and strengths based. Theoretically, she draws from humanistic approaches, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral and emotion focused therapies. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, compassionate and relationship oriented. Sahar wants her clients to feel comfortable to share openly, feel heard and explore without the fear of being judged. She helps her clients find and strengthen their voice. People who work with her can expect to feel empowered. Sahar also takes an eastern-western approach to therapy facilitating a connection between intuitions, inner wisdom and knowledge. Her trainings in holistic health and complementary medicine have helped her clients avoid medication as their first course of intervention and manage symptoms naturally. Where medications are warranted, she encourages, educates and helps her clients become participants in their care.
In addition to her work as a psychotherapist in private practice, she was a faculty member and practitioner consultant for the graduate level counseling programs at UPenn GSE as well as a clinical supervisor for pre-licensed professional counselors. She was a consultant and group facilitator for a non-profit organization called SpeakUp where she helped adolescent students and the adults in their lives learn how to communicate effectively on controversial topics such as- alcohol and drugs, stress and mental health, sex and relationships, pressure and expectations, race, diversity and inclusion. She has also worked in school settings- both urban and suburban, as well as residential treatment centers, inpatient and outpatient clinics, home and community settings. During her career in the mental health field she also worked as a Behavior Specialist and Mental Health Specialist Consultant. She has experience of working with various populations with different challenges and mental health disorders which has given her the confidence to approach therapy from a wide and informed lens.
Sahar is American-Pakistani. She moved to Pakistan when she was 7 years old where she grew up, then moved to London for college before returning back to USA. She spent 11 years in Philadelphia, PA where she founded Live Better. She owns her practice with her husband Saad Haye
